# Performance Matrix

{% hint style="info" %}
**Important for advanced users** — Understanding the performance matrix helps you make better trading decisions.
{% endhint %}

## What is the Performance Matrix?

The performance matrix determines how many points a player earns based on their in-match actions. Points are weighted by position — forwards are rewarded more for goals, while defenders earn more for clean sheets and defensive actions.

## Scoring Table

| ACTION                   | DEF | MID | FWD |
| ------------------------ | :-: | :-: | :-: |
| **Goal**                 |  16 |  18 |  20 |
| **Assist**               |  12 |  12 |  12 |

## Key Takeaways

**Defenders** — Earn big from clean sheets (+10) and defensive actions like tackles, interceptions, clearances, and blocks. A defender who keeps a clean sheet and plays 90 minutes can rack up serious points even without attacking contributions.

**Midfielders** — Balanced scoring across attack and defense. Clean sheet bonus is reduced (+7) but still valuable. Key passes and big chances created are rewarded.

**Forwards** — Heavily weighted toward attacking output. Goals are worth the most (+20) and there's no clean sheet bonus. Defensive stats like interceptions, clearances, and blocks don't earn points since forwards rarely contribute there. Focus on goals, assists, shots on target, and key chances created.

## Using This to Trade

* **Early in a match** — Defenders in games likely to be low-scoring have upside if a clean sheet looks probable
* **During a match** — A forward with early shots on target might be building toward a goal
* **Late in a match** — Players approaching 90 minutes get a +3 bonus just for staying on
